Lynx Project presented at ReMeP 2019

Research Meets Practice (ReMeP) 2019, conference of Legal Informatics, was celebrated in Vienna during the 23rd - 24th September.

Christian Sageder, partner from openlaws, attended the conference and presented Lynx to researchers that present their projects and businesses looking for solutions. The conference programme included new approaches on reasoning on legal texts, contracts indexing and legal decision making, amongst other topics. This was a great opportunity to present Lynx solutions to legal companies that could benefit from its technology.

Lynx at Semantics 2019

Georg Rehm presented some Lynx results at Semantics 2019: Fine-grained Named Entity Recognition in German Legal Documents. Lynx is currently ingesting national legislation from Germany and Austria in the Legal Knowledge Graph, where NER algorithms are being used to identify persons, companies, organisations, temporal information and other named entities --enhancing thus the search of legal documents.

Lynx at the BDV PPP meetup in Riga.

On June 26-28 2019, a BDV PPP meetup took place in Riga, and Lynx was presented in different events. The local organiser of the event was our partner TILDE.

First, Víctor Rodríguez-Doncel and Elena Montiel-Ponsoda (UPM) presented how Lynx can be used for favouring ethical compliance at the Towards Value-Centric Big Data workshop. Lynx presented the idea of 'ethical compliance' as complementary to that of 'regulatory compliance'; and how Lynx will include in the Legal Knowledge Graph not only legislation but also Codes of Conduct, Deontological Codes and Ethical Guidelines. This is probably the first a time a Legal Information System includes information from these two different dimensions alltogether.

Second, the interoperability challenges of Lynx were discussed in the Interoperability as an enabler of the data economy session, coordinated by Rigo Wennig (W3C).

Finally, Elena Montiel-Ponsoda (UPM) represented the Lynx project in the BDV PPP Steering and Technical committees. This dense agenda was fruitful and Lynx collected valuable feedback from other BDV PPP colleagues.
